Christmas cookies come in many different types and traditions. These double chocolate chip cookies are favorite in our house, and born out of a youthful request to make cookies for the reindeer, not just Santa!
While this has been “our” recipe for a long time, it originally came from this Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.
Dasher's Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (I use Kerrygold)
- 1.5 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cocoa powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Directions
- Step 1
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Step 2
- In a large mixing bowl, combine softened butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer until combined.
- Step 3
- Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Continue to mix until combined well.
- Step 4
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- Step 5
- Spoon in one inch balls on baking sheet.
- Step 6
- Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.
- Step 7
- Cool on baking sheets until set and then transfer to wire rack to completely cool. Enjoy!
